26.08.2019 Comfort & Elegance by Mary Maidiotis Spring Cleaning Guide: Part 1 Part One - The Bedroom Spring is in the air! The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, the sunshine is beaming into your home. Open the windows and breathe new air into your home with a good spring clean. To motivate you to get started, we've created a four-part series to help you break down the process room-by-room. The Bedroom The easiest place to start spring cleaning is to tackle the bedroom first. A lot of clutter can build up in this space, so by starting here, you'll feel organised and ready to take on the rest of the house. Declutter A peaceful sleep starts with a clean, clutter-free bedroom. Organise your space and reap the benefits! Out with the Old The obvious first step is to clear out your wardrobe and drawers. Cull clothes you no longer wear or fit into and donate to charity. Be ruthless with this step, it can surprise you just how many clothes are taking up unnecessary space! Re-organise your wardrobe based on item, or colour and fold clothes in your drawer with space-saving techniques like those from Marie Kondo. Change of Season Strip your bed of all your warm flannel sheets, fluffy pillows and knitted throws. While you're at it, flip your mattress - it is recommended that you do this every six months. Clean They don't call it spring cleaning for nothing! Wipe Winter Away Wipe down all the surfaces in the room including bedside tables, dressers, ceiling fans, windowsills and even window coverings! A Clear View Enjoy the glorious blue skies and flowering plants by removing all that dirt and grime from your windows! Wash windows inside and out to double the natural light in your home. While you're at it, remove smudges and streaks from your mirrors for a spotless reflection. A Deep Clean Of course, all your bedding, including quilts and pillows require a deep clean during this time. It's also a good time to give your carpet a deeper clean than usual, moving furniture if possible, to get into every corner and the often-neglected space under the bed. Rejuvenate After the cleaning is done, give your space new life with some much-needed updates and additions. Swap Linen It's a no-brainer, the warmer weather means it's time to swap the warm bedding for cooler sheets in preparation for summer. Update Decor Add a pop of colour to your bedroom to match the colours of spring. Switch to a bright and colourful quilt cover or a decorative pillow to boost the energy and mood in the room. Look to the Future Imagine being woken by gentle sunlight in the morning, instead of a blaring alarm. With Somfy-motorised window coverings, you can automate them to softly open in the morning and close before you get home for complete privacy. There is no better time to update your window coverings than spring. Contact Somfy to obtain a quote for motorised window coverings in the bedroom, or even prep your outdoor area for the warmer weather.
